Motorola MB7621 vs Motorola MB8600 The MB8600 can only work with one device. You can connect the MB8600 to either your computer or a router. You can connect up to four devices straight to the MB8600 if you pay for and get more than one IP address from your Internet service provider. I bought a Motorola MB8600 cable modem in May 2022. It does not have four Ethernet ports, but only one. I’m not happy because having an extra port would be very helpful for troubleshooting with a laptop that is directly linked and not going through a different router to get to the rest of the network.
The Model MB8600 is made with the future in mind. Since it allows Ethernet port sharing for speeds of more than 1Gbps, it should be used with a router that also has this feature. Any WiFi router can work with the MB8600 modem. You should use at least an AC1900 router with the MB8600 because of how fast it is. Depending on the other devices in your network, you may be able to get a better wireless link.
